Heat accumulation in wastes storage due to oxidation may lead to hazardous situations if not controlled. Microcalorimetry provides the necessary information to overcome such problems.
Waste-to-Energy processes like incineration, gasification or pyrolysis involve high temperatures and require an accurate control of evolved species while the waste input is highly heterogeneous. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) coupled to evolved gas analysis (EGA) is thus a must in that field.
